The first half of 2018 has come and gone - the year is flying by! We've got some great gatherings planned from now through the end of 2018. Read on for details...
Our September gathering will feature Greek food with recipes from the host of the PBS series "My Greek Table." Diane Kochilas, one of the world's foremost authorities of Greek food, and is the author of over 18 books on Greek cuisine, in English and Greek. Although the companion cookbook to her series won't be published until late 2018, our members are encouraged to choose recipes from any of her other Greek cookbooks or from the author's website. Signups are now active for our members. Date: September 16, host: Dianne.
In October, we’ll be digging into recipes from cookbook author Crescent Dragonwagon. Her cookbooks are quite enjoyable to read; titles include: Bean by Bean, The Cornbread Gospels, Passionate Vegetarian and others - although she herself is a vegetarian, several of her books include omnivore-friendly recipes. Our members are encouraged to pick up a book, whether purchased or borrowed, and enjoy her recipes and anecdotes.
Date: October 14, host: Gayla.
November will feature another 2-book gathering. We’ll be choosing savory recipes from the NYTimes food writer (and prolific cookbook author) Melissa Clark’s Dinner: Changing the Game. Because there are no dessert recipes in the book, we’ll look at Dorie Greenspans Baking: From my home to yours for our sweet inspirations.
Date: November 11, host: Mary.
December marks the close of our third fabulous year and we’re planning to celebrate in a big way! Pick a recipe from any of our previous books/themes. Is there a gathering you missed? Or a book we explored that’s now one of your favorites? We’ll be posting more information closer to the event, but you can explore all the options on the “Gatherings” page of our website. Just be sure that you pick a recipe that’s:
1) new to you and 2) not a rerun from a previous gathering.
Date: December 9, host: Jackie.
We’ll also be repeating our gift exchange (which was so fun last year) at our December gathering. More details will be sent to members as the time approaches.
Meanwhile, enjoy the remainder of summer, make sure to enjoy lots of beautiful summer produce, and hope to see you soon!
