We're excited to add a blog feature to our website. Here you'll find recaps of our gatherings, plus club news and some links that we think you may find interesting.
What, you may ask, is this cookbook club all about? It's like a book club, except with cookbooks. We all choose a different recipe from a given cookbook, author, blog, or occasionally a broader theme (like Finnish Food, Pumpkin, or "Anything Stuffed"). The recipes we choose must be something we haven't made before, hopefully challenging members with ingredients or techniques we're not familiar with. On the day of the gathering, we prepare, then take our dishes to our host's home for a great discussion of each recipe, sampling the tasty dishes, and general merriment (yes, there is wine involved!).
How this all came about: back in October 2015, I came across an online article about the popularity of cookbook clubs. The idea really resonated with me, as I was looking for ways to share the love of good food and wine as well as to expand my social circle. I posted the link to Facebook, and it sure took off! Friends invited friends... we opted to wait until after the busy holiday season to begin, chose a cookbook author (Yotam Ottolenghi) and dove right in!
We've been meeting monthly ever since, enjoying incredible food and friendship and adding some great new members along the way. At first, we organized through a Facebook group, but several of our members do not participate in FB. Eventually our website was born, now we have a central location for us to share photos, ideas and recipes.
So welcome! Hope you enjoy the stuff we share here, please feel free to comment.
